The brush tip on these pens is a flexible fiber that gives nice line variation while retaining its shape. Its narrow, fine-pointed shape is capable of both detail work and wider lines.
Pitt Artist pens are filled with India ink, which is a water-based pigmented ink and favorite choice for many artists. The water-base helps them to be odorless, compared to alcohol/solvent-based markers which often have a chemical smell. The colors are also more likely to stay on top of the paper instead of bleeding through.
The use of pigments also helps them stand out above many dye-based markers. Pigment ink strongly binds to non-porous surfaces like paper, making a more permanent, water-resistant mark once dry.
It also allows the ink to have higher lightfast qualities, as opposed to dyes which can fade more easily. (Lightfastness does still vary by color since different pigments are used, so have a look at the photo chart showing the ratings of each. The majority of colors have 3 stars *** which is the maximum rating possible.)
For best results, keep stored horizontally when not in use.
